Overview
This is “Echoes of World War II,” an oral history project completed under Monmouth College’s undergraduate summer research program, called Summer Opportunity for Intellectual Activity (SOfIA). Our goal is to share stories of life-changing military experiences through interviews with veterans near Monmouth, Illinois.
Our team consists of five Monmouth College freshmen (Kasha Appleton, Lily Lindner, Hadley Smithhisler, Margaret Tiedoff, and Terri Walker) and junior, Daniel Hintzke, led by Dr. Fred Witzig from Monmouth College’s History Department. From August 1, 2016 to August 20, 2016, we studied the past and present of oral history, discussed interviewing techniques, conducted multiple interviews with veterans, transcribed our interviews, and produced podcasts to present to the public.
On this site, you can find audio, podcasts, and photos of our interviews.
All interview transcriptions are available at: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B0KVvi-NsWl-dUYxeWIza2dMOEU
